The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is mandated by law to develop, administer and implement comprehensive social welfare programs designed to uplift the living conditions and empower the disadvantaged children, youth, women, older persons, persons with disabilities, families in crisis or at-risk and communities needing assistance.

What is the DSWD Educational Assistance Program?

The DSWD educational assistance program is financial aid for the education of certain eligible people. Back in March of 2018, they clarified that they were not offering a scholarship; they were offering a type of educational assistance for indigent students and other qualified students.

Who is qualified to apply for DSWD’s educational assistance program?

The announcement from DSWD Secretary Erwin Tulfo states that the people qualified to avail the DSWD educational assistance program are the following:

Three children from each household are entitled to apply and enroll in the DSWD Educational Assistance Program. Of course, telling DSWD what’s going on doesn’t seem right. They must request the department to verify and approve their application.
